U of Iowa Improv Performance, Part I

After a good bit of trial and error, I have finally managed to get video from my camcorder all the way to YouTube. Here's the first part (2 more to come) of the solo improvisation set I did at the University of Iowa School of Music Contemporary Improvisation Weekend two weeks ago (November 3). (I've posted this on my personal blog as well.)

About this project

I'm a professional classical cellist and music professor at the DePauw University School of Music. I began improvising in my late 30s and am working on a book to encourage others to make their own music. Many of my posts, especially through May 2006, are first drafts for the book. Since then, I've been rethinking the material, doing more research, and reimagining the focus of the book.
